Character through lighting

I would like to express fear or anger with lighting. I say fear, because I know that form of lighting could of really pushed my movie to another level. Anger for me would just be something fun to experiment with. I choose : Fear

These are two images that relate to the kind of lighting that I would like to explore. I think that to really portray fear with lighting one would have to use a key light that was maybe below the talent's face making shadows over their eyelids. I also think that the light will have to be hard enough to make planes on the talents face too. It actually might be better to highlight the back of the talent's back to push him forward. This should be shot maybe indoors under controllable lighting influences such as lamps and flashlights. How does the group feel about this lighting arrangement or idea in general?

This would work especially if you do some camera angles and high lighting possibly. I posted mine on an idea for depression. see what you think. Maybe for anger you can have a transition into anger with the lighting.

I also think you would use hard lighting to create the element of fear. Most movie scenes I have seen showing fear used hard shadows, and possibly a bright key.

yours is quite similar to t's. Would this be serious anger or like over the top anger?

I think that you are right about the position of the light, but the facial gestures of the character is really important as to the types of shadows that are created on the face. I like the first picture because the lighting is not overly dramatic. The proportion of the little boys face is so large in the scene and the little girls position behind the boys shoulder is really successful in creating the suspense of the scene.
